Dangerous Goods Storage
Types of Dangerous Goods Cabinets
Cabinets are designed and constructed to meet specific New Zealand or Australian Standards (e.g., AS/NZS 4452, AS 1940) based on the type of dangerous good being stored
Flammable Liquid Cabinets (Class 3): These cabinets are typically yellow and feature double-walled steel construction, a liquid-tight sump at least 150mm deep to contain spills, and self-closing, self-latching doors.
Corrosive Substance Cabinets (Class 8): These are often blue and may be made from steel with a corrosion-resistant coating or from polyethylene (PVC) for superior resistance to chemicals like hydrochloric acid.
Toxic Substance Cabinets (Class 6): Designed for poisons and pesticides, these cabinets help prevent exposure to toxic materials.
Oxidising Agent Cabinets (Class 5.1): These are built to store substances that can contribute oxygen to a fire, such as hydrogen peroxide and nitrates.
Class 4 Cabinets: These store flammable solids, spontaneously combustible, and dangerous-when-wet substances, and are manufactured to comply with AS/NZS 5026.
Gas Bottle Cages: Lockable, secure cages with mesh sides and a galvanised roof for the safe storage of LPG cylinders and other compressed gases
