Grab Bags

An emergency grab bag is a pre-packed bag, typically a backpack, containing essential items needed for survival for a few days in case of an unexpected emergency evacuation (e.g., due to an earthquake, flood, or fire). Each person in a household, including pets, should have their own bag with personalized supplies.

Typical contents for an emergency grab bag include:

Water and Food: Bottled water and non-perishable snack foods or energy bars (enough for a minimum of three days).
Clothing and Warmth: Walking shoes, warm clothes (wool or synthetic, not cotton), a raincoat, a hat, and an emergency blanket.
Health and Hygiene: A first aid kit, any essential prescription medicines, hand sanitizer, a toothbrush/toothpaste, and face coverings/masks.
Communication and Power: A battery-powered or hand-crank radio, a torch (headlamps are more practical), spare batteries, and a portable phone charger.
