Eyewash & Showers

In New Zealand, safety showers and eyewash stations must comply with the AS/NZS 4775:2007 Standard, be installed within 10 seconds of a hazard. the equipment must meet the following technical standards:

• Accessibility: Equipment must be located within a 10-second (approx. 15-16 meters) unobstructed walk of the hazard on the same level.
• Activation: Units must go from “off” to “on” in one second or less and remain operational without the use of the operator’s hands once activated.
• Flushing Fluid: The water must be “tepid” (between 16°C and 38°C) and the supply must be continuous for a minimum of 15 minutes of operation.
• Flow Rates: Safety showers must provide a minimum of 75.7 litres per minute, while eye/face washes require at least 11.4 litres per minute.

Maintenance: Plumbed equipment must be activated weekly to clear sediment and ensure proper operation, and a full inspection must be conducted annually
